Midlife, Sing & Shine! 4 Overseas Auditions Officially Launched! If You Have a Dream, Go After It!

Midlife, Sing & Shine! has long been supported by a wide audience, providing a platform for middle-aged individuals to embark on their journey of pursuing dreams and successfully nurturing several household-name singers. The core mission of the program is to encourage those aged 35 and above to bravely chase their dreams and rekindle their passion for music and the stage.

Midlife, Sing & Shine! 4 is making a powerful return, with overseas auditions launching simultaneously in Australia and New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Malaysia, and Singapore. The Malaysia-Singapore regional auditions will be held locally in both countries, providing a formal platform for talented, music-driven individuals aged 35 and above to step onto the international stage. Finalists from this region will have the opportunity to represent Malaysia and Singapore in the grand finals in Hong Kong, competing alongside top contestants from around the world.

To inspire more dream-seekers to join the competition, TVB Malaysia has arranged media interviews with four popular contestants from “Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3” — Rax , Catherine , Andy and Alan who will share their audition experiences and the life-changing journey the show has brought them.

When asked about their biggest takeaways from the competition, Rax shared: “Since joining Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3, my popularity has grown significantly, and I’ve gained a loyal fan base. I often get recognized on the streets and in the MTR in Hong Kong, and even fans in Malaysia approach me to say hello — a testament to the show’s incredible reach and influence.”  Catherine laughed and said that because of her “ordinary” appearance, she isn’t recognized as often. However, she added,“My public recognition has definitely increased since the show. More importantly, the judges’ feedback was truly constructive — it helped me identify my weaknesses and areas for growth, which in turn improved my singing skills.” Andy said his greatest reward was meeting like-minded friends from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and overseas. “That kind of bond is rare and precious,” he shared. He also recalled how, after his first performance, he was out shopping in Hong Kong and someone actually recognized him on the street. “Maybe it was because of my long hair,” he laughed. Alan added, “The biggest gain for me has been the number of fans I now have in Hong Kong. In fact, Andy and I are co-hosting a concert in a few days, and a group of fans from Hong Kong is flying to Malaysia just to support us — I’m truly touched.”

With the launch of  Midlife, Sing & Shine! 4, the four contestants also shared words of encouragement for aspiring participants.  Rax  encouraged everyone: “If you have a dream, go after it bravely! Opportunities favor those who are prepared. This year, the scope of overseas recruitment has expanded beyond the Greater Bay Area and Malaysia–Singapore region to include Australia, New Zealand, and North America. We welcome all singing enthusiasts to take part!” He also offered a thoughtful reminder: “Be sure to prepare songs in various languages — Cantonese, Mandarin, English — to showcase your versatility to the judges.”  Catherine added: “As long as you have confidence in yourself, you deserve to stand on this stage. Before the audition, make sure you’re familiar with your songs and have memorized the lyrics well — that way, you can truly enjoy the performance when you're on stage.” Andy said: “When you reach middle age, it’s even more important to chase your dreams with courage. Make the most of this opportunity, and also learn to manage your nerves so you can give your best performance.” Alan shared his personal story: “I originally planned to fly to Hong Kong to audition, but when I found out there was a preliminary round in the Malaysia–Singapore region for Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3, I finally gathered the courage to take that first step and sign up. That step was truly a turning point. I hope all Midlife, Sing & Shine! 4 contestants will take that bold first step — and allow themselves to shine with authenticity throughout the competition.”

When asked about their upcoming plans, Rax revealed that he will be taking part in the Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3 concert and a series of commercial performances, with arrangements to be coordinated by the company. Andy and Alan  will perform as the duo “Double A” in a concert on June 15, and are also planning to hold another show in Hong Kong this August. As for Catherine , she has since returned to the workforce and is currently readjusting to her professional routine, though she still hopes to find opportunities to reconnect with fans.
