In the lead-up to the Lunar New Year, the TVB Malaysia team and artistes came together at The Regent Chinese Cuisine for a festive New Year dinner, ushering in the season amid warmth and joyful celebration.

The Regent Chinese Cuisine has been recognized by Tatler Dining Malaysia and awarded a place among its Top 20 Best Restaurants, providing a fitting and elegant setting for the occasion.

The evening began with the auspicious Prosperous Abalone Lou Sang, where guests joined in the traditional toss to share blessings and good fortune for the year ahead. This special Yee Sang featured fresh fruits, adding a delightful sweetness and crunch, with each ingredient — including the abalone — clearly defined, creating a harmonious and memorable medley.

A series of signature dishes followed, starting with Regent Signature Starter Deep Fried Crispy Pork Belly & Salt and Pepper Squid.  Exquisitely presented, the dish immediately became a centrepiece, captivating guests with its visual elegance. The crispy pork belly was fragrant yet light, while the squid was tender and fresh, earning widespread praise.

No Chinese celebration is complete without a comforting soup. The Double-Boiled Night Blooming Cereus with Pork Ribs, Dried Scallop and Chicken Soup offered a naturally delicate sweetness, gently extracted through slow simmering and prepared without added seasoning to honour the purity of its ingredients. Light yet nourishing, it delivered a refined and satisfying finish.

Symbolising good news and prosperity, Deep Fried Valley Chicken with Crispy Ginger Slices impressed with its crispy exterior and juicy meat. The accompanying fried ginger slices, resembling potato chips, added a delightful surprise in both texture and flavour.

The Hong Kong–style steamed Marble Goby fish with premium Soya Sauce, symbolising abundance year after year, was exceptionally tender and delicate, its refined flavours leaving a lasting impression on the palate.

Equally irresistible was the Grilled Iberico Pork Ribs With Rosemary, filling the air with its enticing aroma.

Adding depth to the meal was the Crispy Yam Basket with Sliced Whelk In KungPao sauce featuring a crunchy medley of lotus root, black fungus, celery and snow peas — a perfect accompaniment to steamed rice.

The refreshing vegetarian dish, Braised Homemade Spinach Beancurd With Shimeji Mushroom brought balance to the feast.

The Regent Signature HK Claypot Lap Mei Fan with Goose Liver and Waxed Meat, fragrant and perfectly textured, provided a rich and elegant conclusion to the banquet.

Desserts of Coconut Avocado Delight and Fried Nian Gao followed, ending the evening on a sweet and celebratory note, symbolising joy and steady prosperity for the year ahead.

As the evening drew to a close, the banquet unfolded as a meaningful celebration of togetherness, tradition and shared aspirations. Laughter, well wishes and festive cheer filled the room, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere throughout the night. The Lunar New Year gathering concluded on a heartfelt note, leaving guests with lasting impressions of unity and optimism for the year ahead.
