Since joining TVB’s Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3 Rax Teh has captivated audiences with his outstanding vocal talent and undeniable stage charisma. His popularity soared throughout the competition, earning him a devoted fan base and establishing him as a rising star in the hearts of many. After completing the grand finale of Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3 , Rax finally had the chance to return to Malaysia for a much-needed break and to reunite with his family.
Upon arriving home, Rax wasted no time and made a guest appearance on 988’s Energy Go, hosted by Chloe and Jaydern. During the show, he shared memorable moments from his journey on Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3 and opened up about the most meaningful takeaway from the entire experience.
“It was truly an honor to stand on the Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3 ,” Rax said. “One of the biggest things I gained from the show was a new family. These supporters started out as fans and friends, but over time, they became like family to me. Many of them first discovered me during the blind audition when I sang Tong Fa Shun, and I never expected to gain such a loyal following through the competition.”
When asked about his most unforgettable performance, Rax immediately recalled his emotionally charged rendition of 10:30 at the Airport. “I was seriously ill at the time—fever, flu, vomiting, diarrhea—you name it. I could barely walk, and I missed rehearsals altogether. Thankfully, my fan group ‘Dolphin Family’ and the fan club leader stayed by my side, helped me see a doctor, and made sure I was okay. Even TVB’s production team was incredibly kind and arranged a short rehearsal with the band during the intermission on the show day. When the music started that night, and I saw fans cheering in the audience, something inside me just switched on. I sang with every bit of strength I had left.”
Looking back on his journey, Rax said he was more than satisfied with how far he had come. “To be selected from tens of thousands of auditionees and make it to the Top 140—it still feels like a dream. The TVB stage is one that many people can only dream of standing on. For me, it was my first time performing in Hong Kong, and to be singing for months on end was a dream come true.”
With newfound fame, Rax also began noticing changes in his everyday life. “In Hong Kong, people would recognize me on the streets or the MTR and ask for photos. I even have to dress more carefully when going out now,” he laughed. “What surprised me most was how many people in Malaysia were following Midlife, Sing & Shine! 3 . I’m truly grateful.”
Rax also paid special tribute to the person who has been by his side all along—his mother. “She’s always supported everything I’ve done, especially my music. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.”
Before wrapping up, Rax had an inspiring message for all music lovers out there: “If you’re 35 or older and have a passion for singing, don’t miss your chance to audition for Midlife, Sing & Shine! 4. It’s never too late to chase your dream. Take that first step—miracles can happen!”
